Ms Freda Sii

Senior Glaucoma Fellow and Senior Research Fellow

Freda Sii is the Senior Glaucoma Fellow at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, and is part of Professor Shah’s Complex Glaucoma Team. She is also the Senior Research Fellow and Senior Manager of the Birmingham Institute for Glaucoma Research (BIGR) of Institute for Translational Medicine (ITM), and is part of the ‘ReGAE’ (Research into Glaucoma And Ethnicity) team led by Professor Peter Shah. She has worked as part of the charity “Sight for East Africa” in Tanzania to assess ways of helping to develop glaucoma resources.

Freda also leads the Paediatric Ocular Trauma Study (POTS), supported by British Ophthalmic Surveillance Unit (BOSU) of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCO) with the aim of minimising childhood eye injury. She has an interest in the health and wellbeing of clinicians, particularly in preventing burnout, and is part of the Consultant Survival Skills Team.
